Anglo-Saxon Warrior

Northumbrian Thegn 8-9th Century

This Anglo-Saxon warrior was representative of the upper classes of the time. He wears a helmet similar to that found at Coppergate, York, England and is armed with a scramasax (short-sword) and has mail as armour for the upper body. This style of helm was soon to be superseded by Viking styles.
Hand made in England from fine English pewter, it is attached to a black marble base. Also included is a metal plate which can be engraved. The plate is sticky backed and the photo shows one already stuck on. However, it is left separate for ease of engraving.
Height measures 3" (8 cm) approx.
