Roman Spoon as used in Ancient Britain, 3rd & 4th Centuries

  • This is a reproduction of a design of Roman spoon used in Britain and other parts of the Roman empire around the 3rd and 4th centuries.   It is ornately decorated, having a panther and tree engraved in the bowl, and would have been used at cult feasts.   Characterised by its elegant 'Goose Neck' and pointed handle, the latter had the practical purpose of extracting meat from bones and crustaceans from shells.
  • The spoon is 4" (10 cm) long approx.
  • Hand made in England from Fine English Pewter.  The item comes in a presentation box with historical notes.
